Who we are
ME Computer Services is the trade name of 2404984 Alberta Inc., an Alberta corporation based in Edmonton, Alberta. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use https://www.mecomputerservices.ca, place an order, or use our services. You can reach us at info@mecomputerservices.ca.
We follow Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- When you order: your name, email address, business name and the billing details you enter at checkout, plus your order and payment history.
- When you contact us: the information you choose to send, such as your name, email address and message.
- When we deliver a service: the technical information we need to run it. For example, details about the websites, hosting accounts, domains or devices we manage for you.
- When you register a domain: the registrant contact details that the domain registry requires.
We do not collect your bank details, and we will never ask for them.
Why we use it
- to process and confirm your order and match your payment to it;
- to deliver, support and bill the services you buy;
- to send you order, invoice, renewal and service messages;
- to keep our services and your accounts secure;
- to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations;
- to send marketing email, only if you have agreed to receive it.
We do not sell personal information.
Who processes it
We use these service providers. They process information only to provide their service to us.
- Brevo: sends our email.
- Interac: handles e-Transfer payments. If we add card payments, Stripe will process them. We do not see or store full card numbers.
- Convesio, DirectAdmin and WPMU DEV: hosting platforms for our website and for the websites we host for customers.
- Odoo and FOSSBilling: our customer, order and billing records. These are hosted in Canada on servers we control.
- Domain registries and registrars: receive registrant details when you register a domain, as the rules for that domain require.
Some of these providers may store or process information outside Canada. When that happens, the information may be subject to the laws of that country.
Spam protection on our contact form
When you use our contact form, Cloudflare Turnstile, a spam check from Cloudflare, Inc., processes technical data such as your IP address and browser and device signals to check that you are a person. The message you send is emailed to us through Brevo and recorded in our customer records (Odoo) so we can reply. Our whole website is served through Cloudflare.
AI and your data
We use AI where it is useful, and a person is always accountable for the work. You own your data. We never use your data to train shared AI models. If we use an external AI provider for your work, we tell you which one.
Marketing email
We follow Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). We send marketing email only if you have given consent. Every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Messages about your orders, invoices, renewals and services are not marketing, so we send them even if you unsubscribe from marketing.
Cookies, analytics and your choices
Our online store uses cookies that are strictly necessary for the cart, checkout and site security. These run without consent because the store cannot work without them.
We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how the site is used. These tools run only if you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. We do not use advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires. Order, invoice and tax records are kept for the period required by tax and accounting law.
How we protect it
Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection. Access to customer information is limited to the people who need it to provide the service.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. You can also withdraw consent to marketing email at any time. Email info@mecomputerservices.ca.
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first. You can also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
